Magenta Cast Fix

Prints look pink? This is the #1 sign of Double Profiling. Ensure you select "Let Printer Manage Colors" OR "Let App Manage Colors" — never both.

Paper Choice Check

Using "Plain Paper" settings on Photo Paper dumps too much ink (smearing). Using "Photo" settings on Plain Paper dulls the image. Match the driver setting to the media.

Bleeding Blacks?

If black ink bleeds into yellow/color areas, your Black Ink Type is wrong. Photos needs "Photo Black" (dye-based). Documents use "Matte Black" (pigment).

How to use this test page

This Color Test Page is specifically engineered to test the full spectrum capabilities of your printer. It goes beyond simple nozzle checks to help you understand how your printer handles complex gradients, skin tones, and color mixing.

Advanced Color Analysis

  • 1
Gamut Warning Check: Pay attention to the vibrant cyans and greens. If the brightest cyan looks dull, your printer is converting "Wide Gamut" colors into a smaller "sRGB" space. Ensure you are printing from an application that supports Adobe RGB for maximum vibrancy.
  • 2
Gradient Banding: Check the transition bars for "steps" or stripes.Visible banding often means your printer driver is set to "Draft" or "Normal". Switch to "Best Photo" to enable high-bit dithering for smooth fades.
  • 3
Metamerism (Color Shift): View the print under daylight vs. indoor bulb light.Cheap 3rd-party inks often look green under indoor light. OEM (Original) inks use pigments stable across different lighting conditions.

Pro Calibration Tips

  • ICC Profiles:Never guess. Download the specific .ICC file for your exact paper model (e.g. "Canon Pro Luster"). Install it and select it in Photoshop/Lightroom for 100% accuracy.
  • Rendering Intent:For photos, choose "Perceptual" intent. For logos/charts, use "Relative Colorimetric". This controls how out-of-range colors are handled.
  • Avoid Double Profiling:Crucial! If Photoshop manages colors, you MUST disable color managementin the printer driver settings. Otherwise, the correction is applied twice (Result: Magenta tint).
