Toner Rubbs Off?

If you can wipe the text off the page with your thumb, your Fuser Unit is failing to melt the plastic toner. Try setting paper type to "Labels" to force a hotter fuser temp.

Cheap Paper = Dust

Cheap copy paper sheds "paper dust" which coats the rubber pickup rollers, leading to jams. If your printer struggles to grab paper, clean the rubber rollers with alcohol.

Rock the Toner

Faded vertical strip? The toner powder is clumped on one side. Take the cartridge out and verify the "shutter" opens, then gently rock it to redistribute the powder.

How to use this test page

This Black & White (Monochrome) Test Page is the industry standard for evaluating Laser printers and document-focused Inkjets. It focuses purely on contrast, resolution, and text clarity.

Laser Defect Analysis

  • A
Ghosting Distance: If you see repeated faint images, measure the distance between them.~94mm apart: Faulty Drum Unit (cleaning blade failed).
~50mm apart: Faulty Fuser (toner melting issue).
  • B
Repetitive Dots: Spots appearing at exact intervals? This is a physical nick on a roller. "Charge Rollers" leave small dots (~37mm apart), while "Transfer Rollers" leave larger smudges.
  • C
Vertical White Lines: Streaks of missing print down the page. The standard sign of a dirty "Corona Wire" (on older units) or toner blocking the laser path glass. Cleaning the optics usually fixes this.

Toner & Density Check

  • Paper Weight Setting:Toner flaking off? Your fuser isn't getting hot enough. Set your paper type to "Thick" or "Cardstock" to drive the paper slower and heat it more.
  • Ambient Humidity:Laser printers hate moisture. High humidity (above 60%) causes paper curl and "light" prints because damp paper doesn't hold charge well.
  • Refilled Toners:Gray backgrounds usually mean a "Bias Voltage" leak in cheap refilled cartridges. Stick to OEM if contrast is critical.
